Hawk Spirit's Animal Energy of the Week: The Raccoon (Opportunist)

I recall a beautiful summer night opening up my door to let the dog out. When the door was half way open, I see a big gray animal walking away. I thought it was my feral cat Jasper. She's always hanging around.

This animal was bigger and fatter than Jasper. Even so I yelled out, "Jasper, is that you?" The great beast turns around and says, "no" and commences to walk to my front door. Upon reaching my door, it stand on its hind legs and points to the cat bowl. There was no food in there and it wanted some. What nerve this animal had to make such demands. Who did it think it was? Punk.

The raccoon is a very intelligent animal that is mainly seen at night. If you see one during the day, be very careful it could be rabid. These little guys are the great opportunist of the animal kingdom. If there is something available to them they will take it. It doesn't matter if there are three cats and a dog surrounding it. The raccoon will claim what is his and take some for the road.

Hey, if you decide to put food outside, it's for everyone to share. Right? The raccoon is a real class act about it though. He/she will wash his/her hands before they dig in. Have you seen a raccoon wash its hands? The sight is absolutely adorable.

Now, since its 100 degrees in my house and I don't want to put the A/C on yet, I need to make this message short. I think I've lost like 10 lbs. in water weight typing this. If you see an opportunity cross your path take a shot at it. Make sure that it doesn't belong to anyone else though. Unlike the raccoon, the gang of cats and dogs may not be so intimidated and beat you senseless.

However, if you manage to be the victor in obtaining the opportunity that others dismissed, oh well. Stick your tongue out at your adversaries and go on your way. Some opportunities only come by once in a lifetime. Be smart in your endeavors and demand your right to happiness and success. Always remain humble in your progress.
