Hawk Spirit's Animal Energy of the Week: The Bat (I'm Listening, Are You?)

On Monday, I was talking to a friend about business and the challenges that come with entrepreneurship. With her guidance I was able to advance further with my projects. I listened to her wisdom and heard what she said. Now, it's easy to listen to what people are saying. One can even lie and say that they are listening but hearing is a whole different scenario.

This week the Hawk brings in one of her favorites from her youth, the bat. Oh, I know, I know the bat. That's an animal that represents darkness, evil, vampires. Well yes in the movies it does, but this is not a movie so let the horror go. In this tale, the bat represents the shadow-self and supersonic, sonar hearing. Look at the ears on that animal, it can hear sounds that would bust our ear drums open.

How amazing would it to be so clair-audient that you wouldn't miss a beat. In many cases, having this gift is classified as Extra Sensory Perception. Something just whispers in your ear and boom it occurs. Or, you know what people are saying or are going to say next. I have caught many talking about me seconds before I walk into a room. It's quite fun seeing an "I go caught face."

Aside from being clair-audient, the art of listening also plays a crucial role in communication and healthy relationships. We live in a time where people really don't listen or hear anymore. Technology has taken that beautiful gift away by turning society into machines. Most of us have become a group of fingers that communicate words without emphasis or emotion.

The typing of a word cannot communicate what the sound of a word can. Without hearing what someone is saying, a conversation can easily be distorted. This is why communicating via text, social media. etc. can have harsh consequences. Anybody can type anything and it mean absolutely nothing. Trust me as an advisor, I've had several conversations about this. The outcomes are never glorious. Only misleading.

Now, the same can go for a vocal conversation. But the voice and the inflection of a word can get your instincts up if you are really listening. It was funny, today I went to the ophthalmologist. I was asked to read the lower letters from both eyes. I started with the right and then of course went to the left. I memorized the letters but saw that I couldn't see them that well from my left eye. I did the right thing and read the letters that I could see. I told the tech, I didn't want to cheat but I knew the letters that I couldn't see. He said, " Oh I would've known you were lying. People have been lying to me for 17 years. Vanity always gets the best of them." Remember, the voice always tells the real story. The lies only prolong the inevitable, glasses.

In an above paragraph, I stated that the bat also represents the shadow-self. The shadow-self is the side we don't want to see of ourselves. Illusion and deceit appear to be the shadows that the bat wants us to focus on. Not so much the deception of others but more so about how we deceive ourselves. The animal above is most certainly a feared animal. Both on a supernatural level and a biological one. The bat is a rabid vector and has been known to spread some pretty awful diseases.

However, it is also revered for it's high frequency hearing, insect-hunting skills and courage. Sadly, though many people don't see that truth of the bat. To many it's just a creature who will bite your neck. My point here is that illusion and deceit stem from unknown fears and lies that must be conquered and atoned with. When the truth of ourselves is revealed we are no longer sabotaging our blessings and manifestations. Nor are we lying to others about who we are.

Yes, the bat exists through the night. That can be scary for many a mortal. However, the bat can also survive and command it's dark surroundings with bad eyesight and powerful hearing. It has no shame in its existence because it is its existence.

So here goes:

1. Are you in command of your darkness? If you are what do you see?

2. Does what you see about yourself, your life scare you? Why?

3. Are you ready to open up your ears and listen to your soul with supersonic hearing?

4. Even if you do listen, are apt to hearing and making the changes necessary for a better-version-of-you.

5. How are you communicating with others? Are those fingers the window to your soul?

6. If the fingers are the window, why don't you want to share of yourself? You don't have to be alone in the darkness.

Those are some fine questions up there. I hope you folks utilize them. The bat came to mind because of my conversation with Rosy. She is an entrepreneur like me. We met at a punk rock flea market that has come and gone (tears). Rosy sells Goth/Punk-style wear and pocketbooks. I fell in love with a bag she sells that has a bat on it. That bag totally rocks and one day I'll have it. I want to thank her for her wise words and I wish her all the best in her humanitarian efforts. She and her husband Greg are good people. Punk Rock folks, Punk Rock. Oh and of course, Happy Easter!
